Meet The Mannings

We are the Mannings of the Printworx, a father-daughter trio that's been working together officially as a team since '11 and unofficially since '93. Though we may no longer call Altadena home, Altadena will always be a part of who we are. If I close my eyes and think hard enough, I can still remember the smell of the Library on a hot Summer morning with my grandmother. I can recall the scent of the sweet alyssum bouquets I would gather in my childhood backyard and the perilous thrill of crossing the rushing streams in Eaton Canyon after a heavy rain. We've lived on Palm and on Pepper, on Calaveras, Stonehill, and Lake Avenue too. And for 27 years, our print shop on the eastern side of Lake just below Altadena Drive was our world. It was a world that felt so quaint and interconnected that I was convinced I was a "small-town" girl well into my preteen years. I think that's what has always made Altadena Altadena, that a place so sprawling and populated could simultaneously feel so quaint and personal. She is an oft misunderstood beauty with room for all, whether you are from generations of Altadenans, a newcomer looking for some big-city reprieve, or somewhere in between or even outside the box. When Bob Klomburg, a long-time Altadena resident and our family friend, reached out to us with an idea to rally the spirit of Altadena, we jumped at the chance to help. Inspired by his vision, we've put together designs dedicated to our hometown and to the resilience of its residents from one of its own, my sister Brigid, who had dreams of being a graphic designer since the days of doing homework on the floor of our shop after school. Everything is designed, digitized, and produced in-house, incorporating the colors of Altadena's natural beauty along the way. We hope you enjoy what we have to offer and join us in the sentiment that like a phoenix from the ashes, Altadena will rise again.
